West Bengal's industry is older and heavier than most of the states in this plan: foundries, steel, heavy engineering and petrochemicals, with a large food processing base alongside. Much of that plant is being retrofitted rather than replaced, which is where drives, PLCs and transmitters go in. Engineering and food processing carry most of the demand here. The machine shops and SPM builders in Howrah, Bally, Dankuni and Uluberia take stepper motors, stepper drivers, servo motors, servo drives and PLCs; the food, packaging and pharma plants at Kolkata, Kalyani, Barrackpore and Siliguri take HMIs, AC drives (VFD) and level transmitters; and the steel, cement and petrochemical units around Durgapur, Asansol, Raniganj, Kharagpur and Haldia take pressure transmitters, high-temperature transmitters and heavy-duty drives.

RB Automation also supplies industrial automation products in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Howrah holds one of the country's oldest foundry and engineering clusters. Durgapur and Asansol run steel, coal and heavy engineering. Haldia is petrochemicals and refining. Kolkata adds trading, food processing and light engineering, and Kalyani and Kharagpur hold newer industrial estates.
