Prayagraj's main industrial base is Naini, across the Yamuna, where plants make transformers and electrical equipment, pumps and compressors, and telecom hardware. A large gas based fertiliser plant runs at Phulpur, a thermal power station at Bara, and silica sand is mined and washed around Shankargarh. Prayagraj's industry is split between Naini and the plants beyond the city.
