A switch stepper driver runs a stepper motor from simple ON/OFF signals instead of a pulse train, so a switch, relay or basic PLC output can start and stop the motor. They calculate the motor resonance point and suppress intermediate frequency vibration for quieter running, adapt to the motor parameters at power-up and halve the winding current once the motor stops. Both are rated IP54.

Switching stepper drivers suit simple start-stop motion where the motor runs at a set speed when a signal is ON, such as conveyors, feeders, indexing or rotating mechanisms and similar auxiliary axes. Because no pulse output is needed, they work well where the controller has only digital outputs. For precise multi-position moves, a fieldbus or pulse drive is a better fit.
