A 2-phase open loop stepper driver converts pulse and direction signals from a PLC or controller into phase currents that move a 2-phase stepper motor, without encoder feedback. The R42, R57, R60, R86 and R110 Plus drivers are based on a 32-bit DSP platform with built-in micro-stepping and auto tuning of parameters for low noise, low vibration and low heating.

The models are sized for different motors. The R42 drives 2-phase stepper motors below 42mm and the R57 motors below 57mm. The R60 and R86 add high-speed, high-torque output for larger motors, and the R110 Plus is designed to bring out the full performance of 2-phase high-voltage stepper motors. The R-S series is Rtelligent's upgraded open loop pulse control stepper driver, developed from the company's years of stepper drive experience. Its new architecture and algorithm reduce the low-speed resonance amplitude of the motor, giving smoother running at low speeds than earlier open loop drives. It is a good choice when an open loop system must run quietly at low speed.

Micro-stepping divides each full motor step into smaller steps, which gives smoother motion and less vibration, especially at low speed. Auto tuning adjusts the driver's parameters to suit the connected motor, so you get low noise and low heating without manual adjustment.
